Merry Christmas!

We like to have a nice dinner Christmas Eve so we can relax on Christmas Day. This year we made Beef Wellington, it turned out absolutely delicious! There is a photo below of Hunter brushing the egg wash on the puff pastry. Everyone helped! Gma & Gpa Hill came over for Christmas Eve dinner and spent the night to have Christmas morning with us. We opened gifts at 7:45am and then had happy pancakes with pear syrup for breakfast. Got Gma & Gpa out the door by 10am so they could run home and get ready for their church at noon. It was a lovely Christmas morning. We are very lucky to have them living so close. Ella was excited with all the commotion and new toys, that she would not go down for her 9am nap until almost 11am! Hunter and Daddy are playing in Hunter’s room as I type this. I hope you all have a wonderul Christmas with memories to cherish forever!

Nativity 2011

Christmas started with the Nativity re-enactment at Gma & Gpa Hills on Dec 23rd. They always have the grandchildren and great-grandchildren act out the nativity. Aunt Carole plays the piano while everyone sings Christmas songs, then a couple of grandchildren read aloud the birth of Jesus from the Bible. At each appropriate time children enter as they participate in welcoming Baby Jesus. Hunter was a shepherd this year and kept his costume on.

Quick trip

I had meetings in Reno, so I brought Ella as “infant in arms”. And we got upgraded to first class. It was an early morning flight and Ella was an angel! She ate little pieces of banana in first class. Everyone was waving at her and she waved back using an open hand like a beauty queen pageant. I received many comments from the other first class passengers (mostly business men) that she was well behaved. Ella even let one of the flight attendants hold her for a few minutes. And for those of you who know Ella, she is extremely particular with who she will go to. Gma Gibby and Aunt Lisa met us at baggage claim and Ella spent the day with them. Ella was a bit grumpy at Gma’s due to the fact she is cutting four teeth on the top. Very soon she’ll have the perfect matching set! What a fun little overnight trip for Ella! Hunter told Daddy that he was missing Ella. It’s the first time they were separated for more than a few hours.

Happy 8th Anniversary BabyLove!
We were able to get a babysitter and have a romantic evening out to The JG Grill at St. Regis-Deer Valley. What a fun splurge!

I am so grateful to have Barry as my partner on this journey and to build our life together. I met Barry summer 1997, our first date was to the dollar theater in Sugarhouse. We watched Inventing the Abbotts and went to an ice cream parlor. Since the first day I met him, he has been a consistent communicator and always very supportive of me. I especially appreciate his listening skills and enjoy the fact he is a great cook.

I am happy that we were able to spend ten years together building a solid foundation to provide stability as our life evolves. It has been amazing over the past four years to grow our family together. Difficult, yet so rewarding at the same time. I am also grateful that Barry is such a hands-on Dad and willing to share equally as primary caregiver to our children during his off-season.

I did not realize that Barry was so talented at building things and remodeling projects when we met. He is so talented and I thank my lucky stars each and every day!

Looking forward to a fun-filled journey!

Bath time!

This morning Ella ate a Baby Mum-Mum rice rusk and a teething biscuit while I made pancakes for breakfast. She loves having something to eat and gnaw on. As you can imagine I put Ella straight into the bathtub with big Brother… Ella enjoys her bath seat.

Daddy has started on another project… Installing Trex on our deck

Daddy started the Trex project on Wednesday and wouldn’t you know it, the very next day, we actually had our first snow of the season. So Trex was delayed and Daddy started on window sills in the living-room. He is using reclaimed European Beech wood and then will stain it.

Moab Trip (May 2011)

I was cleaning up my computer over the weekend and found these images from our Moab trip, May 2011 (Ella was 2 months old). I can’t believe I haven’t posted them yet! We went to Moab with The Reed Family, good friends from our neighborhood. The Reeds are now in Brussels, Belgium (Brad is Lt. Col in the Army). Hunter loves tagging along with William who is 7 and Anna is 6 months older than Ella. We hiked Corona Arch, spent a day @ Arches Nat’l Park and stopped by Dinosaur Tracks. We rented a vacation property in Rim Village neighborhood in Moab, Utah.

While we were there, we ran into a couple who was repelling the arch…

It was a fantastic weekend getaway!

Dinosaur Museum with Gage

My friend Natalie (college room-mate) lives in the SLC area and has 4 boys. During maternity leave, we had a play date with her youngest, Gage. Gage is one year older than Hunter. Hunter and Gage played at this sand/water table for almost an hour. It was his favorite things at the museum. Digging for fossils was a close 2nd. They play so well together. The Dinosaur Museum in Lehi is a great place for kids. Ella enjoyed some snuggle time with Natalie!

Trip to the Hogle Zoo with Gannon

Since we moved back to the Salt Lake City area, it has been fun to reconnect with old friends. One of my BYU classmates, Karen, lives in Highland and works at Intermountain Medical Center in SLC. As full time working Mom’s we have a lot in common, including two kids. Gannon is her oldest and he is 6 months younger than Hunter. She also has a daughter named Addison who is turning two this fall. It has been fun to plan play dates for the kids and meet for lunch or dinner (they love to get out of SLC and come up to Park City). Here are some pictures of Hunter and Gannon at the Hogle Zoo from earlier this summer.
